‘Mindfulness for prevention of recurrent depression’

What is the ‘Living Well, Living Mindfully’ programme?

The ‘Living Well, Living Mindfully’ programme is an educational training in mindfulness. This group based course is designed to teach people who have experienced recurrent depression new coping mechanisms to prevent further episodes and live healthier happier lives.

What is Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy?

Mindfulness is an awareness practice that helps us to live more fully in the here and now. Rather than worrying about the future or thinking about the past, it trains us to respond skillfully to whatever is happening right now, be that good or bad. In practicing mindfulness we develop a more accepting relationship to our thoughts, feelings and sensations in the body. This can help prevent the downward spiral into depression. A Mindfulness Based Cognitive therapy course offers participants practical skills and training in mindfulness. Participants develop tools to recognise triggers and symptoms of depression, learning to respond with greater awareness rather than spiraling into an episode of depression.
