Dear Friends,
I am delighted to be offering this 6 part mindfulness course for parents online. As a mother to baby Luna I see so clearly how important it is for me to put on my own oxygen mask, and take that breath. When I take a moment to exhale the whole unit benefits.
As I move through a busy day in tending to Luna’s needs, I catch micro moments of bringing myself into presence. I become aware of how easily my system runs on automatic pilot. In turning my attention inwards I notice the ‘ inner weather pattern’, and take a breath. I remember that I can step back from the often ‘ cascading waterfall’ of thoughts and feelings. I feel the power and importance of simply pausing, and grounding myself in the here and now.
Often, I lean into the anchor of my feet. I feel my feet on the ground as I rock and soothe Luna during a difficult moment. In noticing my own inner reactivity and bringing myself back into the present moment some inner space arises. My scattered attention starts to focus. I feel more resourced within myself.
On this path of parenting, one of my greatest practice’s continues to be leaning into kindness, for myself – for all the many levels of surrender and renunciation that I feel being a parent asks of me. This is especially important during the challenging messy moments of parenting. In remembering to bring softness and friendliness to myself, my capacity for gratitude, joy and love of this little being grows.

During this 6 part mindfulness training you will:
- Develop mindfulness tools to support greater ease, calm and balance in parenting.
- Learn practical skills to manage stress, fatigue and overwhelm more skillfully
- Learn to meet yourself with kindness and compassion, especially during difficult moments
- Remember to water the seeds of gratitude and appreciation even amidst stressful times.
What does the course involve?
This course invites you to step back from the demands of parenting and take a moment to exhale and connect with yourself through mindful awareness.
Each 2 hour weekly session will involve simple guided mindfulness exercises such as breath awareness, mindful stretches and movement, mindful walking & the body scan. Each practice is designed to resource and support you as you navigate the challenges and joys of parenting. There will be time for self reflection and also sharing with others in the group. The course is suitable for those who are new to mindfulness, or indeed those who wish to deepen their practice. Each week you will receive some short mindfulness recordings to support your practice at home.
What do I need ?
A quiet private space to practice in
Reliable internet and a computer or laptop
A blanket/ mat and cushion to support your practice
No experience is needed, and all stages of parenting are welcome.
Just come with an open mind!
