Do you sometimes feel that you are moving through the motions of your life, but that you’re not actually awake and aware.

Science tells us that almost 50 % of the time, we are running on automatic pilot. Moving quickly from one task to another, we may not really be experiencing life. We may find ourselves spiralling with stress reactivity and suddenly notice that our bodies and our minds are out of balance with pain, stress and even burn out. We risk missing the joy, delight and wonder of this being human, which is only found in the present moment.

Mindfulness is learning to live more fully in the present moment. It is a practice of paying attention to what is happening in our bodies, minds and hearts, and the world around us with interest, friendliness and curiosity. 

In the context of Pain, Stress & illness, a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course is designed to resource you with an evidence based toolkit to manage your physical & emotional health challenges more effectively. 

Science tells us that an 8 week training in Mindfulness can support people to cope better with the onset of physical & emotional pain & stress, and learn self care skills to support recovery. In developing greater mindful awareness, one learns to step back from discomfort, and the negative thinking that so often accompanies it,  to meet oneself with greater care during difficult moments. We gain a sense of choice and even possibility that can effect the whole of our lives.  

 

What to expect ? 

This educational evidence based course requires commitment and motivation from participants.

This course is designed by The University of Massachuseutts Medical School Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare & Society. It consists of eight weekly online sessions of two hour 15 mins duration. Each session blends experiential mindfulness meditation with an educational component.

Gentle stretching and mindful yoga

Education about the science of mindfulness & chronic pain &      stress

Building a toolbox of mindfulness skills to manage your                health challenge more effectively

Group discussions aimed at applying mindfulness skills into        everyday life

Daily home practice and reflection
